Off-COlOR
Walk-ins may be welcome here, but this off-COlOR sign may result in a few walk-outs. Found by Grant H. in Austin, Texas, this is a perfect example of the lowercase L enigma -- the L in COlOR is the only lowercase L on the board, while all the other letters, including all the other L's, are uppercase. I'd call the number on the sign to ask, but those 1's might be lowercase 7's.

it's typed! how did this happen??
Yeah, I'm really surprise because it's TYPED. That's either intentional or a crazy typo that was never caught.
Wow! As annoyed as I get by grammar-related idiocies, I didn't even know this was a widespread problem until I found your blog. My eyes will be open from now on.
Thank you!
I second that Nina. I am so ashamed that I never noticed this before. All self-proclaimed grammatical law enforcement officers must be alerted immediately. We need to supplement this blog with something else to seriously curtail the issue. Vote for lowercase L Awareness Month. You're either with us or against us.
I never noticed the lowercase L problem until now...i guess i'll look for them now!
Does anyone else think it's strange that the l is also the only letter in italics?
